About Us

David has a strong passion for photography and creating images.  But more than that he realizes the need for recording meaningful occasions in people’s lives.  The birth of a child, the graduation of a teen, a daughter’s wedding or a family reunion are all occasions to commemorate with professional portraiture. 

Professional portraits are more than just a snapshot in time, capturing a special occasion when your family took time out of their busy lives to stop and create a memory.  David believes, “We really are memory creators.”

Family portraits, when displayed in the home, communicate a message of love and acceptance to the children and help develop a positive self-image.  Family portraits remind us what a stabilizing influence the family unit brings to our lives.  With this in mind, we focus our energies and talents creating portraiture that enables our clients to achieve both family and personal goals at the same time.

In our current world, most events are catalogued on our computers, phones or better yet just left on the camera, and not on our walls.  There is a strong need to increase the feeling of family as a unit, and having a portrait on your wall is a great way of doing that. 

Dealing with different people in different demanding situations also creates challenges. While trying to create a relaxed and fun session environment we enjoy differing dynamics that bring feeling to our images and working towards mutual goals.

David also enjoys the many challenges his commercial clients bring.  His technical skills with lighting in studio and on location are highly honed.  “The many varied tasks we take on are what really contribute to our creative image production.  Whether it be lighting small objects to show off minute detail or lighting larger areas to show the depth and size of a show home, we have helped many of our clients achieve awards for their work.”

David has earned many accolades in his profession over the years.  His work has been Nationally Accredited by the Professional Photographers of Canada, www.ppoc.ca and he has received both the Service of Photographic Arts (SPA) in 2008 and Craftsman of Photographic Arts (CPA) designations in 2009 from PPOC.  David held the role of President of the Professional Photographers of British Columbia www.ppabc.com or www.ppoc-bc.ca for 2008 and 2009.  David also believes strongly in giving back to those that support others.

Michou has had a variety of careers along the way, however photography has always been a passion of hers.  She has assisted David over the years both as photographer and in the office and is now refining her photography skills as she develops her woman’s portraiture portfolio.

Szabo Photography has been honoured with the Home-Based Business Excellence Award in 2002 and 2009 from the Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce, and that just goes to show that we are always going beyond what is expected to enhance our customers experiences, and creating images that do the same.
